On 2nd June Harriet Bowyer took part in the second Jubilee River Swim, a 10km long distance swim that starts near Maidenhead and finishes in Eton, to raise money for the Contented Dementia Trust.
Harriet completed the swim in an amazing 3 hours and 4minutes, finishing 14th out of the 30 women who completed the whole 10km and was well placed among the 139 entries, which included several relay teams.
Harriet said that it was a lot harder than she’d expected, especially at the start, when her lack of open water swimming experience made getting her head under water and covering even a few metres seem impossible – but the thought of all that sponsorship kept her going! By the end of the swim Harriet was overtaking other swimmers and rather enjoying it!
Harriet’s determined effort has raised an astonishing £1,043, so a great big ‘THANK YOU’ from everyone at the Contented Dementia Trust.
Here are some photos of the swim in progress and one of Harriet looking exhausted, but happy at the end of the 10 km.
