The Business Charity Awards were held at the Grosvenor House in London on the evening of May 15th, and were hosted by Huw Edwards, presenter from BBC News. IPC Media, who chose Contented Dementia Trust as their Charity of the Year in 2011, were nominated for Charity Partnership (Short Term). This award was for an outstanding partnership between a company and a charity that has lasted up to a year and a half.
IPC Media feels that it is their most successful charitable partnership to date. Contented Dementia Trust founder Penny Garner described the partnership as “incredibly fruitful in so many ways”. She added, “To say that our appointment as Charity of the Year 2011 has turned us around is the understatement of the year…the support of IPC has meant that people really have taken notice of us and allowed us a voice.”
IPC lost out to The Co-operative Group for their work with Mencap and Enable Scotland, but the partnership received a special mention for the charity’s pioneering work on behalf of dementia sufferers and the breadth of support IPC provided.
