There was a full house at the recent ‘Understanding the Person with Dementia’ study day at Oxford Brookes University. Penny Garner delivered two workshops on the SPECAL Photograph Album as a way of understanding the experience of the person with dementia, their disability and key starting points (the Three Golden Rules) for anyone coming into contact with them. There was much interest in our table manned by SPECAL Practitioner Christine Pugh, and a large number of signed copies of the book ‘Contented Dementia’ and the ‘Understanding Dementia’ DVD were sold. Rhonda Riachi, one of the organisers of the conference, said afterwards that the Contented Dementia Trust presentation had been ‘professional and engaging’. A great day!
